SARResponder™

SEARCH & RESCUE RESPONDER COURSE (SARResponder™)

SARResponder™ is a 40 hour (in the classroom) course designed to prepare responders to function on SAR Incidents, as Field Responder Members of a Rural or Wilderness SAR Team, with an awareness level of the urban environment.  In the traditional classroom setting the course can be taught as a two-weekend class (including both Friday afternoons & evenings) or as a five-day class during the week. Generally, volunteers prefer the weekend schedule; while (agency) paid members usually prefer the work week schedule.  In addition to classroom time, the course includes a thirty hour “minimal comfort” overnight SAR exercise as a mandatory component of SARResponder™.  Successful completion of the class final exam satisfies the written portion of the AERIE SARResponder™ 2 Certification (which can be taken online after class).  The student will still need to successfully complete the practical testing portions of the examination process to achieve the AERIE SARResponder™ 2 Certification.
